This Mans Best Friend

Many years ago my family wanted a dog. I really didn't want one as we were in a small apartment, but in the end my spouse decided to make the addition to the family. I was not happy about it in the beginning so when she brought the little fluffy fur ball home, what could I do?

He is a Maltese and though I have to admit he was adorable, the breed seemed more for a rich woman to pamper, show in dog competitions, and carry in her purse rather than with our little urban family. He was AKC papered and though at first he was not named. I hoped that they would grow tired of him quickly before that happened and would take him back .For the first few days they would play with him and they loved on him. Soon I noticed he started to follow me around, always bugging me to get on the bed or sit in my lap while watching TV. He was a little pest. But over time he grew on me and we seemed to bond. One day my daughter Sara exclaimed he would be named Tutter ( his papers cite the name Sir Tutter of Malta, yes he does come from royalty or so he thinks, just ask him! ) He was named for her favorite mouse like character from the 1990's childrens TV show" The Bear in the Big Blue House". Over all there years he has become the kitchen floor vacuum ( he can hear food that has left the counter and falling midair from 50 feet away and it will never touch the floor), security of the backyard ( squirrels and rabbits don't have a chance at hanging out) the licker of peanut butter from the belly buttons of laughing and screaming kids, and the protector of his mamma. He loves to get his picture taken and to smile for the camera. He is my wonderful little buddy. He tends to be a grumpy old man but he really is a good little friend and am so glad we kept him.
